The community of Blue Lake is a Firewise community. In 2021 after the big The Trails wildfire jumped boundary and claimed property in Blue Lake, conscientious community members formed together to become more educated and prevent future disaster. Firewise recognition was achieved and now, Blue Lake Estates property owners are committed to being proactive against the threat of wildfires. Llano County MUD #1 highly encourages participation in this hazard mitigation effort. And, we can help! Watch for ways to join a group vacant lot care opportunity in May by joining our email alert list on the homepage.
Llano County remains under a Burn Ban due to severe drought conditions. We would like to remind you to keep your vacant lots free of dead and downed trees, or tall, overgrown and dried out vegetation to prevent the risk of wildfire spread. The next annual vacant lot mowing program is being discussed but we would like to call on property owners to take care now and help keep Blue Lake a Firewise community. We encourage you to engage your favorite lawn care crew today. You can call the MUD office for suggestions. Most vacant lots in Blue Lake look like the picture below and several are in worse condition with larger underbrush taking over. Remember, it is not only a good public safety practice to keep your vacant lot safe from wildfires, but it is also a BLEPOA condition, covenant, and restriction. Failing to maintain your vacant lot can be enforced with fines. Be a good neighbor and a safety conscious landowner by taking responsibility now before a disaster strikes.
